Frieza returns, but in this timeline Gohan had to make a more concerted effort as there is no Vegeta to fall back on while Gohan has trained with Goku, Goku is off on Beerus' planet undergoing special training via Whis to unlock full Ultra Instinct and so he must maintain Sign at all times and so Gohan mainly focuses training with the other Z-Fighters. Gohan technically far stronger now, is still nowhere near Frieza's newfound level of power.
